Someone suggested to try the Resident Evil 5 Benchmark. They said that it is very CPU intensive no matter how many cores you have. Well, I originally ran the benchmark with my native 2560 x 1600 resolution, then for kicks I tried the benchmark at 1024 x 768. I found something very interesting: There is only about 4 FPS difference between the two resolutions. This aspect is what I’ve decided to do the benchmark about. What is the limiting factor??? It isn’t CPU limited because my CPU activity is no where near maxed out during the benchmark. I have also used this benchmark to try some more editing using Sony Vegas PRO 9.0. I figured out how to do PIP (Picture in Picture). What we have at the top is the display from my Logitech G19 LCD display showing MSI Afterburner temperature and clocks for my HD5970s. I then have the display from my Zalman ZM-MFC3 showing the loading on my computer. (It doesn’t go that high either, which tells me the benchmark is not that intensive) The last PIP is of my coolant temperature displayed by my KOOLANCE ERM-2K3U. Of course you can see all of these components on my gaming rig review. The temperature only goes up from idle temperature by 1C during the benchmark. The benchmark is short, but again…I don’t think it is that intensive. Oh, the sidebar information is pulled from my computer doing the more intensive 2560 x 1600 run.
