Altec Lansing are like internet ads, my brain just ignore them subconsciously.
This system is great, for me this review is misleading.
why would you buy a 2.1 system when you can buy a really good 5.1 sound system :S
I have the Expressionist Ultra and Bose Companion 5. Bose produces better sound quality, output and great booming bass.
Expressionist ULTRA produces a low hissing noise even when there is no volume in play, that’s not acceptable. Bose Companion 5 when not in use are so quiet, no hiss and no hum. When you want it loud and bass booming Bose Companion 5 will accommodate you. The sound output does a good job of surrounding you.

@GordonT92 cuz you dont HAVE to buy a 5.1… not everyone needs it.
i had these speakers and i liked them, but however the klipsch pro medias 2.1′s are 150 $ and deliver the same sound quality.

@tman695695 Yes, apparently I did the biggest mistake ever, purchasing this disappointing speaker set for a hefty price thinking it is good…….. Shame on Altec Lansing……. now I don’t know what I should do with it… dang..

Why r u comparing Expressionist Ultra with speakers that cost almost 4 times more? I didnt heard this speakers but i would love to do that.
@Jebemvamkevu you really need to have both systems and compare the two. Trust me I am not some Bose Fan Boy. I am just giving you my observation as I compared the two systems on my machine. ChillaFrilla review is spot on. These speakers are not worth the price, Bose Companion 5 sounds million times better.
how abt actually playing a song or something on it, isnt that what speakers are for.
So,what’ the size of the sub woofer? to me looks like a 8 or 6″ woofer?
Just hook your computer up to a Marshall Amp.

I found them with a decent price of $138 @ PROVANTAGE, much better then the $200 price tag at most other sources.
which is better Exprexionist Ultra or Expressionist Bass?
Go for Logitech Z-2300, much better bass and no hissing.
